My mom texted me a pic of her meal (grilled salmon) at On Forty-One a few weeks ago, so I was excited to try this restaurant the next time I came home. Fortunately, I'm home this weekend and got a chance to visit. My husband and I ordered drinks at the bar before our table. We decided to try the Forty-One Freeze. Neither one of us liked it, though. I think it was the coconut milk in it that threw us off. We didn't finish them. Of course, my parents joined us for dinner. We tried the deviled eggs, which were really good. The table favorite was the option with salmon on top. My husband even said they were almost as good as his mother's recipe, which is saying a lot because my mother-in-law's deviled eggs are awesome sauce. I didn't get to try one with bacon on top, but I heard they were good as well. As for entrees, the Hubs and my mom ordered the grilled salmon, and they both cleaned their plates. My dad ordered the burger, and he cleaned his plate as well. I had the New York Strip (I was starving), but it was so filling I didn't clean my plate but had plenty of leftovers to take home. My husband and I tried the Kentucky Mule to try and make up for the Forty-One Freeze, and it was much better. We were about to leave, but decided to order some hushpuppies and another round drinks. The hushpuppies were yummy, and I liked the accompanying remoulade sauce. All in all, this is a great restaurant. I could totally see myself hanging out here on the patio (which is really nice). Why did all of the cool spots open in my hometown AFTER I moved away?

No doubt this place is convenient for "north Mt. P'ers" but you really need to check this place out for their smoked wings. Me and a few friends patronized OFO last night and we're stamping this place as a solid go-to nosh nugget. We destroyed the app menu (ribs, wings, bbq shrimp, fried oysters and hush puppies) and, well, the wings reigned supreme. We will most definitely return for more beer-and-wing rendezvous. Dinner was a mix of the braised short ribs, lobster/shrimp grits, burger, and smoked chop. All good. The caramelized onions on the burger was much better than the usual raw offering. I'm not writing home about the braised short ribs but they weren't the worst I've tasted. The chop was probably the top entree. Service was decent but had a couple slow spots. An empty pint, in some cultures, is a sign that something is wrong. Very wrong. This should be the culture in just about every place that serves pints. As an aside, a couple of us thought the very existence of a kale salad (I don't care how much caesar dressing you cover it with) and a veg plate with quinoa (really?) on the menu was just a sell out. Bless your heart. Really, though, be true to yourself. We could actually smell it...the faint odor of desperation to lure in the couple where the guy wants something substantial but his fairer half needs to have a healthy option to green-light going. So, well done to a new local haunt up here in the hinterland of Mt. P.

WoW! Great atmosphere and great food. I started with a Dark and Stormy cocktail very good! For an entree I had the pork chop, collards and Mac. Perfection! My wife had the fried chicken and it to was really good. I think this will be a new "go to" for us as we live near here.

After hearing positive reviews from a few friends, we went here for dinner. The menu options were relatively limited. Nothing too exciting or notable and the prices seem a bit high for the area. Atmosphere on porch was pleasant, but likely won't return for a meal.

Maybe they are still working out the kinks. We went on Saturday night, the place was busy but we sat at the bar with full service. Take note, you need reservations on Saturday if you want to have a table on new patio. We had burgers and wings, not bad. Although, my husband thought for $14 they should have been spectacular. I ordered them medium-rare, they came out well done, no tomato, ketchup or onions. Bartenders were overwhelmed. Even though one claimed to have over 12 years experience, I can't imagine it was a good 12 years. He had no personality or a signature drink, worst cosmo ever. The other one forgot our drinks twice, admitted to forgetting but not forgetting to charge us for it. We might go back in a few months, it's just so conveniently located. But not itch to do it anytime soon.

When I heard the Chef at The Granary, which in my opinion is the #1 restaurant in Mount Pleasant, was opening up a second restaurant, it quickly jumped to the top of my must-visit list. Although a bit of a trek from downtown (located on Highway 41 hence the name), the food and atmosphere of the outdoor space make it well worth the drive. The huge screened-in patio is home to a large bar with TVs and tons of tables, which I imagine once words gets round would make an excellent place for after-work drinks and bites at Happy Hour. The inside is an entirely different atmosphere, much more quiet and stayed. My friend and I opted to dine outdoors for dinner and brought a bottle of red wine for a $14 corkage fee. To start, we split the fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese and served over chow chow, which were coated in just the right amount of crispy batter. My friend ordered the Cheeseburger which came topped with pimento cheese and caramelized onions, served alongside a massive pile of truffle fries. Priced at $14 and huge in portion, no complaints from her on her decision. For my entrée, I decided to go with two small plates since the Appetizer section of the menu was what most intrigued me. The Chicken Livers were crispy and super filling for only $8, served with a bourbon jus over grits. The beer braised BBQ shrimp wasn't my favorite, a bit confusing to eat with the shells still on, submersed in a broth that more resembled butter than BBQ. Overall I think the spot has a lot of potential with decently priced, unique options and an inviting outdoor patio that begs for Happy Hour or Sunday Brunch. Next time I hope to be back for their Happy Hour menu which I eyed when I walked in, served from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday with options like $3 Pork Sliders with blue cheese slaw and $6 Disco Fries with pimento cheese and tasso gravy. Yep that needs to happen. Must-order items: Chicken Livers Fried Green Tomatoes

Have stopped by this place on occasion for drinks and had dinner once! The drinks are great and they have a fabulous happy hour!!! I love their Moscow mule. I had their burger for dinner and it was fabulous! Cooked to perfection. The fries ere excellent too :) I wish they opened earlier then 3 on Sunday's and had a good brunch special. I feel like they would kill it with brunch and the food would be excellent! A friend of mine had dinner and had the Mac and cheese and said it was fabulous. The weekends it is always packed and the outdoor atmosphere is perfect for mt.pleasant and the cliental.

1st time during Restaurant week...wonderful meal. Can't say enough about the dishes. The scallops, 2/way duck, was wonderful. Yeah, Brannan....you have done it once again. We'll be back to experience good food, excellent service, and a kitchen that knows how to cook!

Wanted to check it out because of the convenient location. Way over-priced, over a 45 min wait to get our food, very awkward indoor setup next to an automatic sliding door, and had to send my food back. This place will not last if they don't make some adjustments. I just don't get the vibe at all.

Recommend On Forty-one. Great food using local produce and local craft beers on tap. The team is great.

Finally got an opportunity to stop by On Forty One to check it out. I love the outdoor bar area and can't wait for it to become the new hot spot this summer. They can open it up and expand seating on to the actual outdoor patio and really turn this into an outdoor oasis. The bathroom is super cool with very unique decor. I love the walls and the one inch deep sink is oddly zen like. It's a little strange because size wise, it feels large enough to accommodate multiple people, but upon further inspection, it's designed for one at a time. I wasn't starving, but I had to try the food. I ordered deviled eggs and fried oysters. The eggs were great. I definitely enjoyed the bacon one's more (who wouldn't) and I'd love to see them create some unique ones or change them up seasonally down the line. The Fried Oysters were just amazing! The were served on a bed of creamed spinach with bacon, Parmesan, and pickled shallots which kicked it up a couple notches from your standard appetizer to a creative small plate. As for the other side of On Forty One, I've yet to dine there. The outdoor bar is this upbeat, fun atmosphere where a party could break out any moment, but once you pass through the automatic door (which I love by the way), it was like you just walked into a library. It was so quiet and intimate that you almost feel like you're disturbing the diners as you pass through. It may have just been the night I was there but it seems like the focus is really on the outdoor area, but if you'd like you can also sit in this quiet room off to the side... shhhh. Either way, I'll definitely be back and after getting a full on food experience, I'd like to say I see a fifth star in their future. I've been told the pork chop is amazing and the chef himself has advised me to go for the fried chicken. So there, I now have at least two more reasons to come back with a quickness. See you soon.

A little pricey which is why only 4 stars, that being said, food was EXCELLENT! Will definitely go again.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go in the neighborhood, however my last two visits were disappointing. No only has the food gone down hill, the attitude seems to have gone with it.. Sitting at the bar ordering a drink, we encountered a really grumpy male bartender who seemed to think it was troublesome to give us drinks. He had the worst RBF I have ever seen. Never cracked a smile and was almost nasty. WE then ordered food and my beloved fries were loaded with truffle oil, so much that we couldnt eat them. The wings which are usually excellent, were a bad yellow color and mushy.. Even the great Buttermilk dipping sauce was off. 2 sliders were good, the pork chop was good but why does everything seem to come with collards? Then we had more folks come so we asked for a table and a server who we have had before and didnt care for was back. She also NEVER even smiled or looked us in the eye.. It was really strange. Either this is a horrible place to work or they just have really grumpy people working there. I am writing this hoping the managers/owner sees it so they can make a few changes. I will tell you that on a Friday night at 7pm the place was only 1/4 full.. And, it used to be packed. So it seems many folks feel the same as I do.

I've been waiting for On Forty-One to work out new restaurant kinks before visiting. I felt it was time last night and sat at the bar. I was somewhat disappointed about the luke warm reception from the female bar tender. She was quite consumed in talking to the regulars and making drinks, that after waiting a good 15 minutes I had to flag down the other male bar tender just to order a drink. I was somewhat regretting my decision to sit at the bar, but in the end, both bar tenders pulled through by checking in on me regularly and confirming that my dinner was delicious, so I had a better feel by the end of the experience. I ordered the grilled salmon on leek and corn risotto. It was STUNNING, and I don't say that often. Risotto is often over cooked, but this one was cooked to perfection. The salmon was perfect and had a delicious compound butter that gave the dish complexity. The corn gave a lovely and much needed texture. Again, a real stunner of a dish, that hit the spot. I watched as other meals, like the burger with truffle fries, the fried oysters, the hush puppies were delivered to other tables and everything looked so appetizing. I was wishing I could have just one bite of each of those! I guess that just means, I'll most definitely be back to try all the other items on the menu.

We went in a little early and they're so accommodating!! The wait staff was attentive and the food was delicious!! We had apps (deviled eggs and ribs) and dinner (grilled pork chop and fried chicken). All the sides are fabulous! Definitely a great place!!

If you are a foodie like we are, you have been to the usual suspects in Charleston: the FIG, the Husk, the new and hip Edmund's Oast. They are all good, and, granted, being downtown always makes it a special occasion. But do yourself a favor and go to "On Forty-One". We have been twice during last restaurants week early this year, both times were amazing (Scallops, Smoked New York Strip and butterscotch pudding). It can get crowded, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, but it is SO worth it. The portions are adequate, the prices are reasonable for the quality provided. We have always left happy and eager to go back!

Great food, location and ambiance. Food was the best part of it. The service not as great and could have been better. That's my only call out. Worth going for the food.

Great restaurant. This is exactly what North Mount Pleasant needed. The back patio was covered due to temp, but the atmosphere was great! We shared the chowder and it was delicious. We both decided to order Lobster, Shrimp & Grits and thrilled that we didn't share. It was Perfection! We will definitely return!

Oh My what a find. Out in the boondocks of N. Mt Pleasant. We ordered the hush puppies which were quite exciting in taste ad texture. I had one of the best burgers EVER. Moist and cooked perfectly with an enormous amount of fries. Just the best I have had in years. Wife had the salmon which was sushi grade and was delicious and flaky. It was worth the drive.

The burgers taste like they are cooked over an open fire and the Mac n cheese is the best ever! We love our bartenders here!

Wife and I stopped by after work. Had Happy Hour drinks at the bar. Great atmosphere. Ate some appetizers including chicken livers, fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs. Sean the bartender recommend a fine Pinot Noir. A great addition to northern MP.

Wow we had a great dinner...great appetizers, fresh vegetables and delicious fried chicken. The wait staff was spot on. Will definitely be going back for seconds...

Everything was delicious! Husband had the salmon and I had the short ribs. Great staff!

Chef Brannon has done it again! Every restaurant he's involved in is amazing. Had the smoked wings and lobster, shrimp and grits. Also tried my wife's burger. Everything was great! Good local beers on tap too!

Went here with neighborhood dining group. They accepted reservations. The table had: Corn Chowder with Shrimp and Crab: Very flavorful, could have used more fresh corn. Fried Chicken Liver over grits.. EXCELLENT... Smoked Pork Chop: Very large, VERY well cooked and very good!!!, Lobster, Shrimp and Grits... You know, I just LOVE their Grits. I love large ground grits, these were very creamy and flavourful.I would have called this Shrimp & Grits with a miniscule portion of Lobster. My wife had a very difficult time finding any lobster. But all three at the table that had this, enjoyed it. Fried Chicken, this was the only disappointment. Both ladies that ordered this said the Chicken was over cooked and tasted like it was fried in old Oil. One did complain and received a new plate, however she said the chicken was just as dry and over cooked. Wedge Salad with blue cheese, nice large chunks of blue cheese, large wedge of lettuce... Pasta, pesto and shrimp... lots of shrimp, great flavor. Drinks: Bloody Mary... Good; Margarita: Loved it.

Good food, and fun atmosphere for night out. It can be a little loud, especially on busy weekend nights, but good food and drinks and short drive for those in N Mt. P make up for that shortcoming.
